Blasting

 

Blasting could be either the final operation in the material preparation process or the first operation before mechanical cutting. The purpose of blasting is to remove from sheets, profiles, castings and forgings eventual burn-off, scales or rust, which could influence the quality of cutting, welding and further subsequent operations. 

Blasting is performed on two continuous sandblasting machines. To achieve surface roughness Sa 2½ the abrasive DURASTEEL S 460 is used for blasting. Maximal dimensions of blasted plates and components are 3 000 x 500 x 12 000 mm and 1 500 x 400 x 12 000 mm.

Before blasting of sheets is it possible to apply preheating furnace.
