Laboratory

1. Chemistry laboratory

Evaluation of chemical composition of used materials is carried out spectometrically and is consequently chemically analysed.

Equipment used:

  • Optical emission spectrometer Hilger E983C

  • Analyser C and S – Leco CS225

Additionally, analysis of selected input basic materials and ferroalloys is carried out.

  

2. Mechanical testing

Testing mechanical properties:

  • standard temperature tensile test (longitudinal test piece of circular cross section with smooth ends, flat longitudinal test piece (sheets, springs), estimation of Rm, Re,Rp0,2, A5, Z.

  • guided bend test

  • impact bend test at standard temperature, at lowered temperature ( +40°C to -60°C)

  • notched impact test - KV, KCV, KU, KCU

  • Brinell, Vickers, Rockwell hardness tests. (HB, HV, HRC)

Equipment used:

  • Tensile testing machines EDZ

  • Tensile testing machines ZD40

  • Tensile testing machinesZD10

  • extensometer MKe

  • impact machine PS-30

  • hardness tester HPO 250

  • hardness tester HPO 300

  • hardness tester Rockwell.

Test specimens for all laboratories are prepared in a single-test mechanical workshop. This workshop prepares all kinds of materials apart from extremely hard ones.

  

3. Metallographic laboratory

Evaluation of material metallographic structure:

  • evaluation of microstructure after heat-treatment precision test

  • evaluation of material micro-fineness

  • evaluation of grain size

  • evaluation of cast iron

  • evaluation of decarburisation

  • evaluation of surface hardened and cemented case

  • quantitative analysis

  • evaluation of defects and breakdowns of machinery parts

Special expertise for assessment of causes of defects and breakdowns of machinery parts.

Equipment used:

  • light microscope Neophot 2

  • light microscope Neophot 32, accessory equipment - microhardness tester

  

4. Sand laboratory

Observation, control and evaluation of quality of sand mixtures using operational apparatus in sand laboratories.

Equipment used:

  • type: PED – equipment for measuring permeability

  • type: PFG, LRU – equipment for measuring pressure and shearing strength
