Open Door Day on May Day

The UNEX mechanical engineering and metallurgic concern commemorates 60 years of starting production in the then "Uničovské strojírny" (Uničov Engineering Works), state enterprise, established in 1949. The 60th anniversary was remembered by period photographs within the traditional May Day Open Door Day held on the UNEX grounds in Uničov-Brníčko on Saturday, 1 May 2010, from 8 am to 12 pm.  During the photographic exhibition, the current production capacities of UNEX were presented in a video film.

The performance by Ladislav Hanzl, a strongman from Přerov, who showed (among other things) the destruction of a concrete, 120-kg kerb on his head, was the highlight of the accompanying programme. Children competed for prizes; they had the opportunity to drive Hummer four-wheelers for children, the older ones could test a Segway two-wheeler and the youngest enjoyed jumping on the bouncy castle. Despite the persistent rain before noon, not only did former and current employees and their families visit the UNEX company grounds, so did people from Uničov and the Uničov region.
