UNEX Aims to Work in the Most Environmentally-Friendly Way
Uničov, 20. prosince 2007
The UNEX Engineering-Metallurgical Group places a strong emphasis on ecological issues during its growth. The objective of minimising environmental load covers current production processes as well as newly-established workplaces, including actions to remedy harm to the environment that occurred over more than 50 years of the company's existence. There can be no better proof of success in this specific field than obtaining the EMS certificate and so called Integrated Permit (IPPC) for UNEX metallurgical shops in the Uničov and Moravské železárny iron and steel works in Olomouc.
"During the last five years, UNEX has invested tens of millions of Czech crowns into improving its facilities in respect to ecology", says Alena Svobodová, UNEX's Senior Environmental Engineer." The improvements included, among others, purchase of new equipment for the electrostatic spray coating process, purchase of two blast booths and three paint booths for surface finishes, renovation of an existing paint booth, renovation of the exhaust system used with the arc furnaces and refurbishment of the chemicals store in our foundry shop. We have also completed remediation of contaminated sites."
EMS certification according to the ČSN EN ISO 14001:97 standard acknowledges that UNEX conforms to the requirements being imposed on environmental protection as a constituent of the so-called Environmental Management System (EMS), namely that its processes, products or services provided to customers do not have adverse environmental impacts and that the company continually improves the ecological aspects of its business operations.
An Integrated Permit (IPPC - Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) has been granted to UNEX for the prevention and control of pollution due to industrial processes, i.e. elimination or at least reduction of emissions of air and water pollutants and soil contaminants inclusive of waste-related measures.
