UNEX giant machine update for northbohemian mine owners

Engineering-metallurgical complex UNEX, supplier of technological units and a long-term manufacturer of bucket wheel excavators designed for coal opencast mining, finished on Dec 15 2006 successfully its partial repair of KU 800/16 for Sokolovská uhelná, právní nástupce, a.s.
There has been carried out partial repair on the giant machine, which was put into operation in 1984 and reconstructed in the years 1998 and 1999, based on exchange of the wheel shaft for updated wheel attached to mining point of machine. The new upgrade has already proved successful on a couple of KU 800 machines. In addition there has been carried out disassembly and assembly of wheel boom stroke gearbox, including cable drums. The gearbox with drums is placed in the height of about 30 meters and its total weight is 136 tons. Disassembly and assembly was made by means of two heavy-duty cranes with lifting capacity of up to 140 tons.
